During the summers of 2011 and 2013 I had been cycling around Europe, buking along the way in bigger cities I went through during my journey. That first summer it was just me, my guitar and a couple of harmonicas. It was a fantastic trip that took me from the Atlantic coast of France to the amazing city of Budapest. But I realised that just playing unplugged acoustic guitar wasn't enough to make an impact in the streets.
So the second time I decided to "go all-in" and dragged what turned out to be quite the heavy trailer with all my "one girl band" equipment in it: in addition to my guitar and harmonicas, this time I carried a foldable cajon, a tambourine, a bass drum pedal, amongst other things!
It was totally worth it! I had great fun putting up a spectacular performance in all the great places I busked, and met plenty of amazing people.
At the time I was also selling and promoting my first album, which is a studio album, recorded over several days with a band and all. It is I think a great album, but it is quite different from what I gave to show to people who enjoyed the one girl band act I gave in the streets.
So once I got back I decided to record a "one girl band", no-frills album, in just a couple of days, one mic, "early Dylan style"! Along with original songs like in the previous album, I added a couple of covers I really enjoy both listening to and playing.
When I play in the streets if I see people are taking pictures I always encourage them to send them to me, it means a great deal. And I am lucky enough that some people do and offer me these amazing and priceless souvenirs.
The cover picture for this album was taken by Chao Chen while busking in Göteborg Sweden, and I am incredibly grateful to him, what a souvenir!
I enjoyed the same feeling of freedom doing this album as I felt on my bike riding along the amazing sceneries of Europe, and some of the songs are about my travels and places or things that made an impression on me, from the blues bar of Montreals to the streets of Kolkata.
I hope you enjoy the journey!
